This month's meeting will be a compact and comprehensive overview of new environmental rules, exposures, and strategies for 2017 by the experts at Robinson & Cole. Earl W. Phillips, Chair, Environmental + Utilities Group


Earl Phillips practices environmental, natural resource, and energy law. His practice involves EHS compliance, permitting, and risk management counseling; defense, cost recovery, and allocation; transactional counseling; brownfield development; energy power production and pipeline or transmission line siting; water resource development, and crisis management preparation and response. Mr. Phillips is widely published and has lectured to diverse business and legal audiences throughout the United States and abroad. He has taught courses in environmental, water, and land use law at Wesleyan University, the University of Connecticut, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is presently a visiting scholar and instructor of Environmental Law and Policy for the College of the Environment at Wesleyan University.

 

 

Todd R. Berman, Senior Analyst, Environmental + Utilities Group
 
Todd Berman is a broadly experienced environmental analyst who assists clients and attorneys with strategy and implementation on a variety of environmental as well as health and safety issues, including compliance, due diligence, enforcement defense, transactional, and land use issues. Mr. Berman also assists clients with complex Superfund cost-allocation matters. Much of his work focuses on helping clients manage historic environmental conditions and/or governmental expectations and obligations on sites they no longer own or operate. 

 

 

Brian C. Freeman, Senior Associate, Environmental + Utilities Group
 
Brian Freeman focuses his practice on environmental compliance counseling, permitting, site remediation, and related litigation regarding federal and state regulatory programs. Areas of particular focus include air quality, climate change, and waste management/recycling issues.

 

 

Robert S. Melvin, Partner, Environmental + Utilities Group


Bob Melvin's practice includes environmental compliance and litigation and related land use, corporate, and real estate work. His clients include commercial and industrial businesses as well as municipalities and individuals. Mr. Melvin counsels clients in local, state, and federal permit and siting proceedings; compliance strategies; enforcement matters; transactions, including site and project due diligence, scoping, and sequencing; and litigation.

 

 

Emilee Mooney Scott, Associate, Environmental + Utilities Group


Emilee Mooney Scott is an associate in Robinson+Cole's Environmental + Utilities Group with experience in facility compliance and transactional matters. Her experience includes a several-month secondment in the legal department of a multinational manufacturer, where she worked closely with the in-house and outside environmental and transactional counsel as well as corporate and facility environmental personnel.
