Mimosas and Climate Change: Now We Are Living It - June 6, 2018


This month was a three part meeting focusing on living in a world with a changing climate. Speakers include:

Todd Berman, CEF president, gave a micro run down of the recently passed SB 7, An Act Concerning Climate Change Planning and Resiliency.

James O’Donnell from CIRCA discussed the latest in Connecticut sea level rise projections.

David Kooris discussed his involvement in the Resilient Bridgeport Project--the largest climate adaptation and resiliency project in Connecticut.

About the Presenters

Jim O'Donnell is the Executive Director of CIRCA, and responsible for bringing together the world class research and outreach capabilities of the University of Connecticut and the extensive practical experience of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to create and disseminate practical and sustainable strategies to enhance the resilience of the built environment while protecting natural ecosystems in Connecticut and the northeast.

​David Kooris joined the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) in March of 2018. He is responsible for orchestrating the placed-based components of the state's economic development strategy including transit-oriented development, brownfields, capital projects, waterfront, and tourism. His focus is to coordinate public sector infrastructure investment to best prepare communities for private sector growth while enhancing environmental sustainability and quality of life for all.
